BEGOÑA. Few days ago in a meeting, someone asked me to define what I do. The only thing I could think of was “I try to make dreams come true”.

I think that to be an architect is not only create beautiful and well constructed buildings but to be able to put yourself on someone’s feet, from the East or from the West, with much or less education, older or younger, but always paying attention to their needs, dreams and desires, to be able to transform what they have dreamt of into reality: catch the light, capture sensations, feelings and places, materialize sounds, collect different textures, feel life!

In my life as “dream maker” I have been able to create and make real a miraculous temple where we give hope (New Ibiza’s Hospital), to imagine the place where every kind of people want to live the unbelievable experience of flying (New Terminal, Madrid’s Airport), to dream with so different kind of shelters as people are in the world (what we call homes…), transform simple places of work into factories of ideas (Parque empresarial Cristalia)… The privilege of imagine, create and materialize these and other dreams, everyday and for the rest of my life, is what I think makes me an Architect.

CRISTIANO. “The art of Painting works on two dimensions, even though it might suggests three or four. The art of Sculpture works on three dimensions, but mankind keeps back from it, gazing these three dimensions from outside. Instead Architecture is like a Sculpture where the man can move deep inside, walking trough.” Bruno Zevi

Since ever interested in what is art, Roman and Greek history and culture, influenced from his classical studies, Cristiano devoted his profession to architecture after meeting up with the philosophy of Masters as Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo during his studies in architecture at the university of Florence. From their philosophy he always tried to approach the design trough a research method and analysis always keeping in consideration that architecture is a social act, something that will impact cities and living style of the society. From this approach after several years passed in Italy working in different sectors of architecture, Cristiano moved to China carrying out all his experience and knowledge starting his international adventure in the practice of another contemporary Master, Philip Johnson, where Cristiano was able to run many successful projects all around Asia. After several years spent in famous and international companies Cristiano had the opportunity to met the group of people that today forms D5-Studio team.

EDGAR. His relationship with construction, construction processes and understanding of the methods of design in a basic way began at the age of 16 years old; he discovered the nobility of materials and tried to understand the spatial and social needs of human beings. He began the Architecture-Engineer professional studies at the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, with a profile of studies ranging from architectural design to urban planning, from research of new materials and technologies to the understanding and respect for the Historical Art Heritage. After completing his professional studies he has worked with companies that have helped him enrich his profession in a multidisciplinary way, from Architectural Development to Project Management and Construction Management, all of which now enables him to be part of a team of professionals and cooperate in an intercultural relationship, allowing D[5]-Studio to offer professional services in a comprehensive manner.

CLAUDIA. For some years her professional performance was focused on design, then she reinforced it with field work to have a broad view of the process an architectural work requires, at this stage she could see and discern the fundamental concepts for design such as light, materials, space and dimensions; all that she had captured in a period of her profession was materialized, and with the experience she had gained she felt the need to find something else… in a trip to China met the team that would make D[5]-Studio.

JAVIER. Since he was young he had attraction for knowledge, handling, transformation and fusion of materials and forms, with an education focused always in artistic and technical drawing, he quickly understood how to make real and tangible his thoughts and concerns. He began his professional career working in various companies focused primarily in residential and industrial construction, then he became independent and work focused on architectural design, project development, project coordination, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation, and it was there where together with Claudia Cruz, with whom had been working for several years, he found an old friend, Edgar Ramírez and joined D5-studio fulfilling another personal and professional stage.
